Fairlight Hall is a private estate nestled within 90 acres of pleasure gardens, pasture, and woodland, offering panoramic views across farmland to the English Channel and Rye Bay peninsula. This mock Tudor mansion, constructed in the 1850s, remains a family home but opens its extensive grounds for various events, particularly supporting local community and charitable activities.
The estate, including its Victorian pleasure gardens and woodlands, is Soil Association Certified, reflecting its commitment to sustainable practices. While the main house is not open to the public, the gardens are occasionally accessible during events such as garden tours, gardening talks, and classical music recitals.
Fairlight Hall is equipped with several event spaces. The former coach house has been transformed into an 80-seat recital room, ideal for musical performances and lectures, and opens onto a sheltered courtyard. The estate also features the Russian Steps and a walled garden, both offering natural amphitheatres for larger audiences, with the walled garden seating up to 500 people in its tiered grass seating.
Volunteer opportunities are available for those interested in experiencing and contributing to the upkeep of one of East Sussex’s finest gardens.
