Rochester Railway Station, situated on the Chatham Main Line, serves the town of Rochester in Kent. Managed by Southeastern, the station is a key transport hub, located 54.3 km from London Victoria and nestled between Sole Street and Chatham stations. The current station, which opened on 13 December 2015, replaced the original station that had been operational since 1 March 1892. The new facility, positioned closer to the town centre and its historic buildings, was part of a £26 million redevelopment project aimed at enhancing connectivity and passenger experience.
The station boasts three platforms: Platform 1 facilitates travel towards London, including stops like Strood and Bromley South; Platform 2 serves eastbound destinations such as Canterbury East, Dover Priory, and Ramsgate; Platform 3, a through platform, also supports services towards the Kent Coast. Rochester Railway Station handles a variety of services operated by Southeastern and Thameslink, including high-speed options and regular commuter trains. The station’s design and location are strategically planned to alleviate bottlenecks and improve the flow of both passenger and freight services through the area.
