Five Villages House is a care home located in the picturesque village of Icklesham. It provides safe and affordable housing specifically designed for individuals aged 60 years and over who seek to maintain an independent lifestyle. The facility features a total of 50 flats, with the first 30 opened in 1979 and an additional 20 flats added by 1989. Each flat allows residents to live self-sufficiently while also offering communal hubs for social interaction among neighbours.
The home was founded through the vision and efforts of Daphne Davis, who, along with her husband Bob, also served as the first wardens. In honour of Daphne’s contributions, the home celebrates an annual Daphne Davis Day. Governance at Five Villages House includes a committee of eight board members, featuring a resident board member and a General Manager/Company Secretary, ensuring residents have a say in the management through regular board meetings and an Annual General Meeting.
