I have Eldridges from Battle and Sedlescombe on my tree. Ellen Justina Eldridge (1871-1961) was from Sedlescombe. She married Fred Aylett in 1911. Fred died in 1930. Meanwhile, my granddad’s cousin, Arthur Barber Mawle,was born in Westfield in 1872, married his 2nd cousin, Louise Coutard in Hastings in Sept. 1901, and they emigrated to Florida about 1905. Sometime after Louise died in 1944, Arthur moved back to Sussex and married Ellen Eldridge in 1949. I think they may have been sweethearts in their youth.
