Hi,
Does anyone know where the little house ‘Pines Meadow’ used to be in Beckley please? More of a cabin. My granny and grandad Leonard and Nellie Godden lived there for many years and my father Norman grew up in the house.
Thank you in anticipation. I believe the house will be long gone, I remember the little house as wooden, Mum tells me it contained fair amount of asbestos.

There is a house called the pines on Main Street

Have such great memories of going to visit Granny & Grandad at Pines meadow, Nellie & Leonard Godden.

Hello Clair,
I knew your grandparents. Pine Meadow was a tiny bungalow built as a wedding presented for John Dengate (village garage/taxi/bus company). Len worked for Dengate. John moved out and Len moved in! The bungalow was demolished in the 1970s after Dengates bus business had closed. It stands next door to ‘Dengate’, opposite the rebuilt former garage.
The local area is known as The Pines due to the collossal pines standing nearby. Much more information is found in my book: ‘Beckley – a Sussex village’ (Barry M Jones)
