I’m looking for evidence of a well on my property in Fairlight. Or pictures and information about a bungalow called Bel Air, no longer in existence.

Hi,
The well you are talking about was dug by Jimmy Harris and my stepfather the 1930s. It was located at the top end of Sweetmans builders yard. This would have been opposite barn cottage now an estate agents. If you have a map of the firehills estate it should show you the entrance to the estate through a set of white gates next to the Fairlight Cove Hotel.
I don’t think that’s my well. I live on Battery Hill opposite Stonelynk farm. The estate agents is on Waites Lane. But I am interested in any information about the wells around here. Do you have any other information please?
Thanks,
Kath
