The most spectacular evening of the parish calendar is deafeningly celebrated with bonfires, torches, rockets, processions and effigies. Together with many other towns and villages in Sussex we have complied with a 1606 Act of Parliament “for a publique thanksgiving to almightie God everie yeere on the fifte day of November” for the failure of the Gunpowder Plot.
Please note: Road closed from 7pm – 10pm between Staplecross and Cripps Corner (B2165).
Please do not bring sparklers on to the bonfire field.
Procession will start at 7:30pm outside the bowls club in Staplecross, and will walk through the village all the way to Cripps Corner. Upon reaching Cripps Corner will make a U-turn will then crash and bang its way back to Staplescross. Then will reform outside the bowls club again ready for it 3rd pass through the village on route to the bonfire field.
Entry onto the bonfire field is just £2 Adults. £2 Child! All monies collected on in the buckets on the night goes to local charities and shared out between them at our carol service in December.
This is where our massive bonfire will be lit and the firework spectacular will begin!
There is food available either outside the Cross Inn or on the bonfire field, burgers, hotdogs or candy floss which every you prefer!
So get your boots on, and join us!
