Cowden Railway Station, located in Kent, is a key stop on the Uckfield branch of the Oxted line, approximately 47.19 km from London Bridge. Managed by Southern, this station was originally opened on 1 October 1888 by the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway. It transitioned to the Southern Railway in 1923 and later to British Railways in 1948. The station experienced significant changes in the 1990s, including the removal of staff and the closure of the “up” platform when the line was singled.
Today, Cowden Railway Station operates with a single platform and offers unstaffed facilities, including a self-service ticket machine, passenger help points, covered seating, a small car park, and a cycle rack. Step-free access is available, ensuring it is accessible to all passengers. The station sees a regular service operated by Southern using Class 171 DMUs, with one train per hour (tph) to London Bridge via Oxted and one tph to Uckfield during off-peak times, increasing during peak hours. On Sundays, northbound services extend only as far as Oxted.
