Dover, a historic town and major ferry port in Kent, lies at the narrowest point of the English Channel, just 33 kilometres from France. Its strategic location has made it a key gateway for centuries, with archaeological finds revealing continuous human activity since the Stone Age. The town’s name originates from the River Dour, which flows through it.
