Eastling is a small village nestled on the slopes of the North Downs, approximately 4½ miles southwest of Faversham in Kent. It lies within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, offering picturesque surroundings and a tranquil rural atmosphere. The village’s Conservation Area features notable buildings and gardens, including the historic Eastling Manor House.
St Mary’s Church in Eastling stands on foundations believed to predate the 11th century. The oldest parts include the base of the southwest tower, the nave, and the western chancel. In the 14th century, the chancel was extended, and the St Katherine Chapel was added. The church underwent significant restoration in the mid-19th century, with architect R.C. Hussey rebuilding the nave, north aisle, and south arcade, and adding a west porch. Many interior fittings such as box pews and choir stalls date from this period.
