Folkestone Central Railway Station is a key transport hub located on the South Eastern Main Line in Kent, primarily serving the town of Folkestone. Managed by Southeastern, the station is situated 112.5 km from London Charing Cross. The station, originally opened in 1884 as “Cheriton Arch” and later renamed “Folkestone Central” in 1895, has undergone several transformations, including a major rebuild in 1961 to accommodate route electrification.
Currently, Folkestone Central operates with one main platform in use, following the closure of an island platform and the subway in 1999. The station provides a range of services operated by Southeastern, including trains to London St Pancras International, London Charing Cross, and Dover Priory, with additional peak services to London Cannon Street and a daily service to London Victoria. The typical off-peak service includes trains per hour to various destinations, ensuring connectivity across the region.
