Gill’s Green is a small village within the civil parish of Hawkhurst, located in the borough of Tunbridge Wells, Kent. Nestled in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the parish is characterised by sandstone ridges, steep wooded valleys, and ancient woodland patches. The landscape offers a peaceful, rural ambience with sheep grazing on slopes and arable farming on gentler terrain.

Hawkhurst parish, including Gill’s Green, has a rich history dating back over a thousand years, with connections to the Wealden iron industry and hop growing. The area once thrived on iron production from Roman times and later became known for its hop gardens and distinctive oast houses, remnants of which still dot the landscape.
