About Hever, Kent

Hever is a village and civil parish in the Sevenoaks District of Kent, situated on the River Eden, a tributary of the River Medway. The parish spans approximately 3,062 acres and includes the villages of Hever, Four Elms, and Markbeech.

The village is renowned for Hever Castle, the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, the second wife of King Henry VIII. This historic site draws visitors interested in Tudor history and royal heritage. Within the parish church of St Peter lies the tomb of Thomas Boleyn, Anne Boleyn’s father and grandfather to Queen Elizabeth I, adding further historical significance to the area.

Hever’s parish churches form a united benefice, serving the local communities. The village is also served by Hever railway station, located just over a mile west, providing connections on the Oxted line between Uckfield and Oxted, with services often continuing to London Bridge.
