Ringwould is a village and electoral ward near Deal in Kent, England, situated within the civil parish of Ringwould with Kingsdown. Historically, it was part of the medieval Cinque Ports confederation as a ‘limb’ of Dover, linking it to a network of 42 coastal towns and villages.
The parish is home to Ripple Windmill, currently undergoing restoration, and features notable architecture including a Grade II listed building and the Grade I listed Church of St Nicholas. These landmarks reflect the village’s rich heritage and architectural significance.
In the 1970s, Frederick Ernest Cleary, a Chartered Surveyor and founder of Haslemere Estates, purchased and refurbished Ripple Down House in Ringwould. This building became an environmental education centre for children and later merged with the Bay Trust, which manages the nearby Pines Garden in St Margaret’s Bay.
Ringwould’s location within the Dover district places it among a variety of Kentish villages and towns, each contributing to the region’s diverse cultural and historical landscape.
