Sevenoaks, Kent

Sevenoaks is a historic market town in Kent, located 21 miles south-east of central London. Its name derives from the original seven oak trees in Knole Park, a vast 1,000-acre medieval deer park that houses the impressive Knole House, a mansion dating back to the 15th century and home to the Sackville family. The park also features a cricket pitch and golf course, blending natural beauty with sporting heritage.

The town has a rich history, with a market established in the 13th century and Sevenoaks School, founded in 1432, standing as one of England’s oldest lay foundations. The Vine Cricket Ground, gifted to the town in 1773, is among the oldest cricket venues in the country. Sevenoaks also has a notable connection to the arts and literature, having been home to figures such as poet John Donne and writer H. G. Wells.

Sevenoaks benefits from strong transport links, including two railway stations on the South Eastern Main Line and the Darent Valley Line, providing commuter access to London.
