About West Farleigh, Kent
West Farleigh is a quaint village located four miles southwest of Maidstone in Kent. Its parish church, All Saints, dates back to the 11th century, offering a glimpse into the village’s long history. Adjacent to the church lies the village cricket ground, a focal point for local sports.
West Farleigh has a unique connection with the northern German village of Ringstedt, near Bremerhaven, with which it is twinned. Since 1988, an annual tour involving footballers and community members from both villages has been a cherished tradition.
The village once had a primary school, which closed in 1968 and notably, one of the school’s teachers was Miss Whittle, daughter of Sir Frank Whittle, the inventor of the turbojet engine.
