My mother was born in Woodchurch, Emma Dorothy Chaplin in 1896. She was one of 9 children. Mother was Esther, her father John and lived in a property called Brookiln.

Hi David. Yes you have relatives close to Woodchurch! I believe that your mother was my Great grandmother’s sister. Her name was Bertha Chaplin. My Aunt has memories of going to stay with your parents Emma and Reg as a child. One of my Grandmothers bridesmaids was a Blackford. We are just trying to find a christian name.
John and Esther were my great grandparents, I still live near Woochurch.

Just realised John – I’d already posted all that info in my initial post.
I guess you must be the grandson of either Philiop, Arthur, Stephen, Frank or Tom Chaplin.
I knew only Tom, married to Bertha who had a pub, The Blacksmiths Arms at Offham near Lewes.
