IL Bistro

Tucked away amongst Brighton’s famous laneways on Market Street is Il Bistro, a charming restaurant set in an old fisherman’s cottage only moments from the sea. Specialising in Mediterranean fare and fresh fish, Il Bistro first opened its doors back in 1975 and has been a hit with local foodies ever since. The dining room – with whitewashed walls, beamed ceilings and potted plants – is popular for business lunches and family get-togethers, and Il Bistro offers pre-theatre meals as well as a down-to-earth a la carte menu featuring classics such as Gambas a la Pil Pil – king prawns cooked in garlic, olive oil and chilli; and the Aubergine al Forno – baked layers of fresh aubergine filled with mozzarella, Parmesan and tomatoes.
