Falmer Railway Station, managed by Southern, serves as a key transport hub in Brighton and Hove, East Sussex. Located approximately 5.6 km from Brighton railway station on the East Coastway line, it facilitates access to the University of Sussex, the University of Brighton Falmer campus, and Falmer Stadium, home of Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. The station also connects to various eastern suburbs of Brighton including Woodingdean and Rottingdean.
Originally opened on 8 June 1846, the station was relocated closer to the village on 1 August 1865 and underwent rebuilding in 1890. The eastbound platform retains buildings from this period, while the westbound side has seen modern updates. Falmer Station operates a range of services provided by Southern using Class 377 EMUs, with frequent connections to Brighton, Seaford, Eastbourne, and Ore. The station has adapted to accommodate increased passenger flow during match days at Falmer Stadium, including extended platforms and additional carriages for regular services.
