Frant Railway Station, located in Bells Yew Green, is a historic railway station on the Hastings line in East Sussex, England. Managed by Southeastern, the station features two platforms and provides services to London Charing Cross and Hastings. The station building, designed by William Tress in a Gothic lodge style and built of local ragstone, was opened in 1851 by the South Eastern Railway. It has been a Grade II listed building since 1982, notable for its architectural style and historical significance.
The station’s platforms are staggered, a common feature in early railway stations designed to enhance passenger safety. Connected by a footbridge, the platforms facilitate easy access across the tracks. Frant Railway Station is served by Class 375 electric multiple units, offering a typical off-peak hourly service to both London Charing Cross and Hastings, with additional peak services to London Cannon Street and Ore.
This station, while primarily serving the local area, also acts as the nearest railway facility for the village of Lamberhurst, linked by an infrequent bus service. Frant Railway Station has evolved from a peak-time service station in the 1960s to a fully operational station post-electrification in 1986, now accommodating a growing number of passengers annually.
