I am Jacqueline (Jackie) Spriggs nee Selmes, 19-02-46, the youngest and last of the Selmes family in Mountfield. We were all girls this generation so no male to pass on the name. I married the Vicar..Rev’d Harold Spriggs..in 1968 and we had one son, Simon, born in 1970. Harold died in 1999, and in 2002 my partner my new partner was Richard TIlden Smith the direct descendant of Tilden Smith who built Vinehall (now a school) in the 1830’s. Richard died in January of this year aged 83 and the portrait of Tilden Smith was returned to Vinehall in May where it hangs in pride of place where it was painted.
