There is a Well House Cottage in Hastings Road, Northiam, although this is a mile or so outside the village. Do you have any more information about who lived in Well Cottage? Are you local? I live in the next village, so could help if you are not close by. I am researching the siblings of William Spencer Blunt, who was born in Northiam in 1877. Is this a name that is known to you? Perhaps we could exchange information?

We think that this might be my husband’s great grandfather. My husband’s grandfather died in a farm accident in Beckley several years. He married a Florence Ellen Catt at Woodchurch.

It seems we’re definitely researching the same family! I am intersted in information about John Thomas Blunt, who was William Spencer Blunt’s youngest brother. He was born in Northiam in the June Qtr 1892. I have found him in the 1901 census, but nothing after that. Would you have any information about the brothers and sisters of your husband’s great-grandfather, William Spencer Blunt? Thank you.

    Hi Jenny,
There are still Well House cottages, was two cottages now converted into one and “The” Well house on the other side of the road, both on the hastings road in northiam. My family lived at well house cottages for over 100 years until about 20 years ago. I have lots of info and live in next village not sure if the same place. we were barnes and poile families. Best wishes,
    teresa.

Hi, If you contact the Beckley History Society through their web page, they can help you with burial records. Here is their web address – enter the site then scroll down to the bottom of the page and there is a contact email address. They are very helpful and will be interested in your family ties to Beckley. I found the roll of honour for Fairfiled Church, but the image I found looked like W S Blunt, not John. it is John I’m interested in – can you tell me any more or let me know where I can see the name of John Blunt on the records that you refer to. Thank you. Does your husband know anything about John? Anything at all? Did he die in the Great War, Did he emigrate? I think he was still in Beckley in 1911 so it’s odd that he’s on the Fairfield roll of honour. Do you know why that is. Anything you can pass on I’d be really grateful to receive.

Hi there is a John Blunt at Brookland and on the war memorial at Beckley. I have looked on the commonwealth war graves for the first world war but the only John Blunt was born in Surrey. So this coud not be link. Thank you for the info about the Beckley web site as far as I know WS Blunt was also related to John. I have been informed that records at that time were not always accurate. Regards, Jenny

Hi a bit mor info for you. It would appear that there was Lousia Blunt who was 27 and it would appear that George was brought up to regard her and Barthomew Blunt as his parents.
