Hi I saw that your family were monk, so I hope you can help me. My gg grandfather was Daniel booth monk born1817 in northiam. Our family name is booth and we didn’t know his surname was monk until we had his marriage cert. I’m not sure if his father was Isaac monk or maybe samuel monk? I know the names Daniel and Samuel have been given to first sons in the family. Hope you can help me as I am stuck as to where to go from here.
Thanks
Margaret

Hi Margaret.
I have got a Daniel Booth in my family tree, my GGG grandfather was Isaac born 1797, he married Elizabeth Cook in 1818, but I havent found the reason why he had the Booth and Monk name but my records show he was living with the family in the 1861 census and living in Ewhurst lane Northiam which is very strange as that is where I was born, I am sorry that is all I have found out about Daniel. He was the eldest child. They went on to have 8 more children. Beryl.
Hi beryl
Daniel Booth in the 1861 census isn’t my gg grandfather. My Daniel booth monk married a Menah Whiting in 1844 in Gloucester and moved to Wales. I believe his father was Samuel Monk and his father was henry Monk and mother Elisabeth Streeter, Henry’s father was Henry Monk and mother Susan booth. I don’t know if you can verify this. I did see Daniel booth in the census and I wonder would he be Susan’s father? there must be a connection because of the booth surname. I wonder why my gg grandfather dropped his monk surname and used the name booth especially as he used his full name on his marriage certificate. I would appreciate any info you might be able to share about the family and if you’re interested I can let you know about the family Daniel had.
Thanks
Margaret
