Eyhorne Street, Kent

Eyhorne Street is a hamlet within the parish of Hollingbourne in Kent, notable for its conservation area and historic architecture. Nestled in the southwest of the parish, it lies alongside the Hollingbourne stream and features the Grove Mill House, a key landmark within the hamlet.

The area is distinguished by its collection of listed buildings, including 26 Grade II and one Grade II* listed property known as Godfrey House. This 16th-century timber-framed building was restored in 1859 and is characterised by its distinctive mullioned and transomed windows, ornate oriel window, and plastered ogee base beneath the eaves dormers.

Eyhorne Street also encompasses Cotuams Hall, a Grade II listed former farmstead originally known as Totnams, reflecting the area’s agricultural heritage. The hamlet has no church of its own and has historically been part of the wider Hollingbourne parish.

The surrounding parish is rich in history, with connections to the Culpeper family, prominent landowners whose legacy includes Hollingbourne Manor and the famous Culpeper cloth housed in All Saints’ Church in Hollingbourne village.
