About Harrietsham, Kent

Harrietsham is a village nestled in the North Downs of Kent, approximately seven miles east of Maidstone. It features a blend of rural charm and industrial presence, with the River Len flowing through the area and the historic Holme Mill situated nearby. The village is also home to the Marley works, a notable industrial site to the east of the centre.

The village’s history is recorded in the Domesday Book, and its manor has passed through several prominent families, including the Ashburnhams. Architecturally significant buildings include Bell Farm House on East Street and the Saxon Church of St John the Baptist, both listed as Grade I. Harrietsham also hosts a church dedicated to St Peter, a Roman Catholic church, and several nonconformist places of worship.
