I am trying to trace the whereabouts of my late grandfathers holding in Ruckinge. He was William Thrussell and he lived with his wife in a bungalow holding. There was a row of Asbestos type bunglows with a large field holding behind. I visited in 1950 and remember a lane of bungalows with a small village shop opposite. He died in 1959 and when I visited Ruckinge last year I copuld find no-one who could tell me where these houses were or what happened to the site. His holding was called Benacres and I am trying to trace anyone who could tell me where it was situated. Hoping someone locally will hae knowledge of this,
Many thanks

Hi Christine – have a look at:
http://www.mouseprice.com/property-information/ref-21453650/
This gives details of the property you seek – but not quite in Ruckinge – a little to the west in Bromley Green Road. My Mum used to live in Ruckinge and she has no recollection of Thrussell family. There is one name in the phone book who now lives in Kennington, Ashford – G Thrussell [reveal tel] . Good luck! Geoff Holland
