Batten Mount – What is this, please?

I am researching the South African family, the Makaula-Whites, who all lived in East Kent form 1904. I believe Irene, Eleanor and Claude lived at Batten Mount, Tenterden, in 1939. So what, please was / is Batten Mount? does anyone have any information on this family? I shall be enormously grateful for any information!

    Hello Marika

I don’t know about the family but I think the property you mean is Battern Mount with an r. It was originally one house but was divided into two semi-detached homes many decades ago.

It is on Ox Lane in the St Michael’s area of the town about 10-12 properties in on the right hand side of the road from its junction with Swain Road (TN30 6PE).

    I hope that helps.
