Rose & Crown Hotel Needs Re-plumbing

Last week me, my wife and her younger daughter stayed for 2 nights at the Rose and Crown hotel on the High Street in 2 rooms. My wife’s daughter didn’t have any hot water in her shower, room 18. The toilet in our room (room 19) did not flush properly; water leaked from the bottom of the shower over the floor. I pointed out the problems to Reception and another guest was there complaining about problems with his plumbing. We were given two different rooms – 12 and 14 – but the same problems were apparent. The toilet failed to flush properly; water leaked out from the base of the hand basin tap. Frankly the hotel needs shutting down for a few weeks and a team of plumbers need to re-do plumbing in every room – the rooms are not fit for public use. 4-star prices (£350 for 2 rooms for 2 nights) and 1-star plumbing. The manager refused to give me a reduction in the overnight charge and was unpleasant and unhelpful. Hotels like this give the town a bad reputation. whether it’s the job of the tourist office or the Town Hall to remedy the situation I’m not sure – but something needs to be done.
