Hi, I have just discovered more on the Jenner side of the family Tree. I have a James Jenner married to Philadelphia Harvey, daughter of Thomas Harvey and Sarah Shoesmith. I am also interested in more information on William Jenner / Genner & his wife Susannah Selmes and their life in England. Can you help me with any information please? They are my 5 great grandparents on my mum’s side. Anything would be helpful. Sincerest thanks.

    Hi Richard, Happy New Year.
Is there any chance then that you can help me with the Harvey side of the tree please?
Does Philadelphia have a brother James Harvey? I have a James Harvey (presumably Snr) died 1885, father Thomas, marriage to Elizabeth Goodsall and I have Philadelphia’s father as Thomas? But this James Harvey had a son James Jnr who married Eliza Court? Do you have these people in your research / tree and can you help me at all?
    Any infomration would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Tracie

I have information on a Philadelphia Harvey who married James Jenner in England before moving to Australia in 1840?

She had 2 brothers James and George who both moved to Australia along with their parents Thomas and Sarah.

If you would like more info please contact me,

    Hello Belinda

Philadelphia and her husband James Jenner and 2 children Sarah and Charlotte arrived in NSW, Australia aboard the ship Earl Grey on 24 June 1841.Their daughter Mary Ann born in June 1832 died age 2 weeks at Mountfield.

I’m linked via James’ mother Susanna Jenner, maiden name Selmes.

    Best wishes,

    Caroline

Hi Belinda, I too am descendant from the Harvey’s & Jenner’s. I would love to be able to contact you regarding any information about how James & Philadelphia’s parents came to Australia. No one seems to be able to produce their shipping records but yet they got here. You can email me personally at [reveal email] Thanks Tracie

    Hello Tracie,

James Jenner’s mother Susanna Jenner (maiden name Selmes) travelled to NSW aboard the ship Florist arriving 28 October 1839.

If you have access to the Ancestry website then you will find her under the name Susanna Dunk which has been mistranscribed as Donk. She was not married to Jesse Dunk with whom she travelled.

James’ brother John Jenner is also aboard the Florist and he gives his mother’s name incorrectly as Sarah. The demise of William Jenner has not yet been traced. Susanna Jenner was buried 1871 at Eagle Vale, NSW.

My interest is through the Selmes name.

    Best wishes,

    Caroline

    Hi Caroline,

Thank you for your reply. I should have been more clear, and stated I was asking for James & Philadelphia’s parents as in HARVEY not Jenner. Sorry for this but again thankyou for your response. I too have not been able to trace the demise of Willam Jenner, it is a process of elimination with the name William and the spelling of Jenner. He will be found one day :).

So if anyone can help with the shipping information of Thomas Harvey & Sarah Shoesmith from England to Australia, that would be greatly appreciated. I have their deaths in Australia but no information on how they got here!!

Other researchers have these dates but no response has been received as to where they got their info or where I could obtain it…..

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I would like to put this question to rest finally!

    Cheers,

    Tracie

    Hello Tracie,

They are supposed to have been aboard the Earl Grey arriving 24 June 1841. According to the records of James Harvey he says he is ‘son of Thomas on board’, George Harvey says parents are ‘Thos and Sarah on board’and Philadelphia Jenner says parents are ‘Thomas Harvey a labourer and Sarah Shoesmith imigrants on board’.I’ve tried to find them in the Assisted Passengers list but not succeeded yet!

    Best wishes,

    Caroline

Hi Caroline and Tracey, I am still learning how to research my family tree, but came across this record on familysearch. It states that William Jenner was deceased and that Susannah Selmes was already in this colony, dated
    24/6/1841.
