Uckfield Railway Station serves as the southern terminus of the Oxted Line, located 74.2 km from London Bridge. Managed by Southern, the station features a single platform and is equipped with modern facilities including a ticket office, public toilet, staff accommodation, ticket hall, and café. The current station building, opened in 2010, replaced an earlier structure and was designed using a modular, pre-fabricated approach to enhance functionality and passenger experience.
The station’s history dates back to its original opening in 1858 by the Lewes and Uckfield Railway Company. It underwent significant changes over the years, including the relocation of the station building in 1991 to alleviate traffic congestion caused by its proximity to a level crossing. The original station was subsequently demolished in 2000.
Today, Uckfield Railway Station offers a regular service to London Bridge, with an hourly train schedule that increases in frequency during peak hours. This line primarily uses Class 171 diesel multiple units, reflecting the non-electrified nature of the track. The station continues to play a crucial role in the local transport network, providing vital links for commuters and travellers to and from the capital.
