About Ashford in Kent
The bustling town of Ashford and the surrounding conurbation lies in the beautiful area of East Kent, situated next to the River Stour.
Ashford boasts one of the most vibrant nightlife’s in Kent, with a huge variety of bars and restaurants. Furthermore, those in search of retail therapy are spoilt for choice, with the newly expanded County Square and Park Mall shopping centres in town, as well as the Designer Outlet a five minute bus journey away. However, Ashford also has a “Green Corridor”; protected sections of land running adjacent to the River Stour and its tributaries. Amongst several recreational grounds, meadows and formal parks in the beautiful Kent town, the Woodland Trust managed Great Chart Wood is of particular serenity and is perfect for a family picnic.
Historically, Ashford’s agricultural market was one of the most important and also the oldest in the area. These days, although a street market is still held, the main market company has relocated to outskirts of Ashford.
Ashford’s variety, modernity and accessibility mean it is a great location for both relaxing and activity-filled short breaks. With mainline road and rail routes to both the rest of Kent and East Sussex, Ashford’s excellent transport links are perfect for those who want to explore more of the beautiful South East Coast.
